I have a chance to pick a used one up...Anything I should know or look for? Not familiar at all with Echo.

Never used that particular model but right now I have a CS 271T for climbing, CS-400, and CS-620p. I'm a fan of Echo's because I think they make a reliable saw. You can push them and work them over and over and as long as they are taken care of, they should get the job done. That's just my opinion from my experience with Echo. I haven't used enough Stihl or Husqvarna's to really compare.

So I picked up the saw for $100 and it's barely used. Good score I think.
It starts and idles well. The weird thing is you have to rev it pretty high to get the chain to spin. Thought it was the brake but it works fine. I can spin the chain by hand fairly easily.
Anyone have any ideas where to start on this?

Honestly on my Echo's when I start it up sometimes the chain takes off on its own accord. I've never had any issues. Never done any modifications on my saws either.

Loving my 620p. Thing cuts through logs like butter.

So I took it apart last night and checked the bar, chain, clutch, muffler, air filter, spark plug and anything else that could unscrew.
Some rust on the clutch pawls and springs so I wire brushed and hosed it out with brake cleaner. Got a fair amount of dirt and bar oil out of it. Chain brake works good and isn't stuck. with and without the chain it spins free, but didn't disassemble it. Need to research how to do it..
Muffler had a clean screen and cat material. Air filter and spark plug look great.
Cleaned the bar and relubed the tip sprocket. Chain is good.
Started it and when cold, it idles but dies when given gas - chain won't spin. Nursing it along, it will eventually start spinning the chain, but still takes high rev to engage the clutch.
Wonder if a new clutch is needed....

I have a 330t. It was my first top handle. Saw in my opinion is a pos. I do love my 355T tho!!!! Can't say enough good things about them.

I was debating the 355T but ended up going with the 271T. Less cc's but really light. Is able to go through the bigger stuff even though it has less power. Just gotta treat it right for its size.
