Dualcender Applications

The Dualcender has many applications in everyday tree climbing. Each day I climb with one I find new and different ways to use it.

I used these techniques last week and thought those that use a Dualcender might find them interesting.

The Dualcender can be used for tree to tree transfer. In the pictures on the left it shows it doubled over a limb. I clipped a throw weight to the carabiner/small pulley and tossed it through a tree crotch and retrieved it with my climb line and attached it to my saddle. Ran the doubled rope through the Dualcender and began pulling myself over to the next tree.

The pictures on the right show it single line over a limb. The one end is secured to the saddle with an eye-splice and the other is attached with a Knute hitch/knot. When you pull the rope through the dualcender on the side of the Knute you can pull up the slack as you go up the tree using the body thrust rope climbing technique. Pull a little and pick up the slack a little.

At all times your backed uped either way..Nice

Get creative but be safe..

Humans make history, so get busy......

Double pulley double dualcender with a throw-line to advance the top dualcender/pulley. Pull up with your arms or your legs with a footlock bite on the double line and stand up.

This technique is one of the methods that takes more thought then effort. Once you try it a couple of times it becomes second hand when needed.

Foot locking on a double stactic line with the aid of the throw line. When the situation arises it comes in handy.

A little more rope a little less effort..

Apply the resource and minimize the energy.

Is time, the dividing line between ideas/techniques/methods?

Can you use just one side of the DC at a time?

Maybe. When using the Dualcender, you're clipped to the nylon loop, which equalizes the cam loading. If one rope channel were empty, the other cam would still clamp its rope. The body would cant though; maybe a minor issue.
