Dropped biner stats

While I was making my weekly stroll through rec.climbing I found a note about a study that SMC did on dropped biners.

Intereting study. Comforting, too. None of those carabiners broke at less than 6,000lbs.

Would an X-ray show crack that were invisible to the naked eye?

x-rays do show cracks, it is a way they test aircraft parts. There are dyes that can be used to detect cracks as well.
I had gear drop 800 ft onto rock. I had it x-rayed and had myself and a metalurgist inspect the pics. All gear was OK!

I have been using it all for several years since.
