I sent him an email. I'm interested as to why one would devise such splices when there are already readily acceptable and doable splices for these ropes.
looks kind of sketchy. I could see that method being much more frustrating and painstaking (as you can see by the sweat formed in the last few pics). It would be interesting to see how these would hold against a traditional DB splice in a quantifiable break test. Not to say that two trucks pulling against each other isn't scientific.
