Don't leave home without it?

Don\'t leave home without it?

I know every job is different and I know some of you take everything with you every time you go out. But that being said what is your go to rigging kit? The stuff you can fit in a rubbermaid container and can take care of 99% of the jobs?

Mine is:
200' 1/2" double esterlon
150' 1/2" arbormaster
portawrap on whoopie
2 ISC blocks each with loopie
2 pulleys each with loopie
fiddle block kit
small bag of extra steel biners
assortment of loop runners

The ropes are actually each in their own respective bag but the rest is packed neatly in a small rubbermaid container.

I would like to add a GRCS into the mix this year but we will see how it goes.

Re: Don\'t leave home without it?

Our Trucks are equiped with the bare essentials:

1 CMI steel block w/ 5/8" dead eye sling

1 Porta-Wrap W/ various means of attachment

150' 5/8' double braid rigging line

And we use retired climb lines for "light duty" rigging

The guys I work with are very efficient in natural crotch rigging. When I first started working with them and found there to be a lack of even a single block on the trucks I knew I had my work cut out for me.

Re: Don\'t leave home without it?

1 - 2 ton 3/4" block

1 - 200' 1/2 dynasorb

1 - 150' retired arbormaster line

2 - dead eye tenex 5/8"s slings with 9 inch eyes 8 foot and 12 foot lengths

1 - 3/4"s tenex sling

2 - quick links for rederects and light rigging with 2 matching 1/2" tenex loopie slings.

1 - powder coated medium porty with 3/4" 14' whoopie sling

one steel figure 8 with steel omega pacific krab 75kn.

hawaii has mostly light rigging. not alot of heavy stuff here.

Re: Don\'t leave home without it?

2 2ton blocks and a small collection of various length dead-eyes

porty and long whoopie

In one bag I have a CMI 3:1 with 40' of line, carbiners and prussiks (dedicated),a balancer, a figure 8, an old micro-pully on a retired plastic sleeved biner, a loopie of 1/2" tenex that's saved the day more than once (thanks House). I'm a little freaky about how this bag is made up so that I can deploy anything in it in a blurred manner when in unfamilliar company. Always interresting when you whip your stuff out and turn 5/8" stable braid into dental floss while others roll their eyes with their arms folded.

200' 1/2" stable braid, NEVER dry crotched, bagged

183.5' 2 1/3" (oops) of safety blue for tag, light stuff or dry stuff

200' of 5/8" stable braid

It's kind of a pile and like all of us I have lots of other stuff but it seems like when I leave with less than this I get my pants pulled down.

Re: Don\'t leave home without it?

We carry all of our equipment with us all of the time, but the rigging equipment that we use for most removals include a 200ft light rigging line (right now is XTC), a CMI 5/8" block with dead eye sling, a large porty with dead eye, a CMI rescue pulley, steel biner, a 3/8" Tenex loopie and 2 Tenex eye and eye tails as well as 2 al. biners.

Now that we bought a GRCS, that might have to be added to the list as well. We have been "forcing" ourselves to use it more and more. We are finding that even if we dont think we need it, we still find ways to use it to our advantage.... sometimes it saves us time but some times we over complicate the job with it. We are still learning.
