I just went to a Saint Paddy's Day function at Santa Cruz Bikes headquarters last week. Have a few friends who have worked there over the years and a good buddy was cooking for the function so I got to see some old friends, eat some yummy food, and see some amazing bikes...
The Santa Cruz area has been a real mecca for bike builders over the years. Paul over at Rock Lobster builds some beautiful hand built bikes, plus he is a world class guitar player. One seriously talented dude.

No you can change up the fittings to make bridge like an Evo. At an extra cost. No biggie.

Gents all this is for insta likes. I scroll through the cesspool of arb insta daily. Very little but daily grind. Which is fine. I drop some. But the instabarbies these days are dellusional at best. Showing things we been doing for years. Hey have at it, but they are letting me know I do not need to run out and buy this thing yet.
I guess I also missed the memo because I do thousands of feet a year of belaying on a short bridge. Man do I feel like a dumbass..
I had one of the elusive arbsession holo stickers I got a while back and hadn't used and wanted to buy something new and shiney so I ordered the kinsi and the t542ixp since my wife would be pissed at me if I bought myself new bass gear. Hopefully it's awesome.

I added a second bridge rope to my Onyx for the power ascender when I want to use it and I found I had to lengthen the main bridge at that point, to get the Bone up above the ascender since I use them both on the same rope (the modded Rollgliss is midline attachable in just seconds, so it comes back off the main rope once I get where I am headed). I did Mumford's adjustable bridge conversion with a CT RollnLock. It is instantly adjustable and the rest of the time you don't even know it is there. I can see where a pro working every day might not need such an arrangement, but I climb for fun and am 71 years old. I don't have the stamina I used to have and it is rather nice on a long ascent to have that Rollgliss power assist to save my energy for moving around once I am up at height. And on those times I climb without it, I want the bridge shortened up again, so I must say I love having the main bridge quickly adjustable. Another issue is I sometimes climb with a ZigZag and Rope Wrench instead of my BDB, and here again I use a minor adjustment to bridge length.
So, is that “bass gear” for like bass fishing or “bass gear” for rockin with Don Dokken?
Well please don’t modify the $h!+ out of it before pelting it one side. Haha!

All this shade thrown on adjustable bridges is making me smile this morning. I’ve never known someone who uses that. Anyone here big on it, and why?

When I got my MonkeyBeaver in 2018, August told me that it was designed to be used with an adjustable bridge, which is what he expected "advanced" users would do. I didn't know what he meant by that. I quickly added a second bridge, which I loved having, but neither one was adjustable. Took me about 3 years to start playing around with an adjustable setup, with a Roll n Lock as shown by Richard Mumford.
I use my adjustable bridge tightened up for rope walking, and sometimes if I'm turned hard against my tie-in, to keep everything close to me. Rest of the time I keep it at "normal" length. I don't think I'll ever understand the need to adjust the bridge super long. Guess I'm not advanced enough for that.
I'm always fascinated by where people will draw an arbitrary line in the sand and say "nope, that thing there is a step too far, totally unnecessary, waste of money". I do it too of course, we all do.

Having never used an adjustable bridge, the specific abilities I am after are:
A. As mentioned many times now, I prefer ropewalking on a tight setup. I have been switching from the belay loop on my sequoia srt to my swivel on the rope bridge when I get to my station. This takes a minute, and minutes add up.
B. I am interesting in seeing if I can manage the potential for crossloading multicenders by just letting a couple of inches out on my bridge and getting my ideal position for a cut that way. If these bridges are not adjustable under load, it drastically reduces my interest.
C. I usually run both bridges in conjunction, but definitely see where two separate length bridges could be reall useful, but I generally like them working in tandem, so adjustability on the fly would let me have both.
