diy resilient eye ideas?

Sorry if this has been already discussed, searched and did not find it.

Anyone made a diy resilient eye (in fashion of the pulleysaver)?

I like the concept as a simple descent tool using the two small smc rings on an e2e prussic in choking configuration.

I've seen garden hose externally, braided tubing externally.

Was thinking about inserting bungie material or maybe a 3/8 rubber cord I have on hand from LV

Inserted in the eye of a 16 strand (no core).

Any other ideas?

The closest I've found was jamming oversized bungee inside. I've seen some folks shape a piece of steel rod to go inside. I've not seen a outer hose solution that seems it would work over the long run.

This is a time when I think you should just buy the real deal. There isn't anything that matches that quality right now.

Oh- I've seen a couple people use stainless steel cable with the ends welded together to make them smooth and prevent raveling.

Seems an alright attempt, but nowhere near as good as the original.

Nick,

Don't get me wrong, I am a huge fan of those guys. Innovative yet simple and effective. got a number of their products and will be getting more over time.

Just feel like fooling around with a little diy soft eyes to go along with my ring style U savery sort of gear.

Like the idea of something simple and light that won't bonk me for simple retrievable descent anchors.

Since T sells the pulleysaver as a bare rope (without the other stuff which I already have) I may end up buying one of theirs in the end anyway.

I think my first try will be the rubber 3/8 strech cord inside the core. Nothing to lose.

I spliced up some small smc rings with the ag tc tonight ala oldfart although I made the cord a touch over 40 inches ring to ring to handle bigger rope than what he uses.
