Dead Poplar Removal

This is a small (very dead) poplar that had snapped off a foot off the ground and landed across a fence onto the neighbors roof. there are power lines close to 10 feet away from the rear of the garage, and the butt log was right under them. Did it in two picks so as to not damage the brand new fence any more than it had been. It was a little hairy deciding where to hook the sling, we wanted it butt heavy, but wanted enough wood to hold and not break (again, this tree was dead for at least a year before it came down, but it turned out to be more solid than I thought). Hooked it in two spots and a third up top as backup to keep it from going top down if she wanted to.

Then, for the butt, we hooked the stub going between the two abutting garages and the bigger main stub, and crotched a line in an adjacent tree and tied to the butt end of the piece. As we picked it the man on the butt line held it and eased it out as it twisted from between the buildings and slid over the fence.

Tricky little job but went beautifully.
