The first few generations of European colonists were super aggressive exploiting whatever resources they could turn up. It was a self-selected group, the couch potatoes stayed home in England and France. No clean slate for Washington or any of the "successful" ones.
It's ironic, the Mohawks did not call themselves that name. It was given them by the other tribes, mainly in the Iroquois Confederation. Roughly translates as "man-eaters". They are self-named "People of the Flint". They were not farmers as many of the tribes in the northeast U.S. were. They raided the indigenous farming villages of the western Masschusetts/Connecticut River Valley on a regular basis and earned their name.
The long history is more complicated then that visa vis the English colonists fighting against the French/Mohawk alliance. European investor money resource control conflicts threw a bomb into the already challenging regional tribal relationships. As a young officer George Washington cut his teeth in that conflict, he earned his "Destroyer of Villages" name. The human costs of war haven't changed, only the technology has.

A friend of a friend's father is soon to take his last breath. He became paralyzed the day of his vaxx and hs been in critical care for some weeks now.

Sorry for your friend’s dad’s situation.
I was on the flip side. 1962, I was 6.5 years-old suffering a severe immune response to the measles one year before the measles vaccine was widely available to the U.S.public. As a result of my body’s response to the infection I suffered lifelong physical/health complications that are threatening me to this day. There’s no point in me thinking about how different my life would’ve been had I been spared the measles infection.
For every story there is a counter story. As a lichen expert said to me: “Don’t collect one sample for a species ID, collect several examples”. Lichen morphology/physical details can be so variable per locale that the “investigator” needs a bunch of reliable data points to gain clarity towards an ID.
So it goes with vaccines.
