Cut protection from electric saws

"Clogger Ad" was meant to be humorous, not as a cut. My apologies if it struck a nerve.
Forgive me.
Dave

My bad, I misread the tone. I was also particularly grumpy last night, according to others, so in the wise words of TS- hi, it’s me, I’m the problem, it’s me.

Penance through quoting Taylor Swift- too much?

The standards mentioned inertia, engine power present (or not) sprocket size chain pitch chain speed (overall mechanism speed )pretty much on the money for the factors determining cutting ability. Gives a guy a warm fuzzy feeling that he's not going into older age brain fade.

Standard fiber fill is Spectra/Dyneema (white) or is it sometimes Kevlar (yellow)? Preference for cut resistant glass handling gloves is kevlar,, but besides resisting getting cut the fibers have to clog well.

edit - gumption can be worked in mv impulse or mvsquared kinetic energy or force vs time profiles like for helmet testing. told you it was a technical term;)

Noticed that the ISO testing standards use an electrically driven mechanism for testing.

Electrically powered motor with a clutch and flywheel of specified inertia.

Wonder if that affects confidence in electric chain saw protection? Or if the mechanism is so different separate testing had to be done?

Bet you a chocolate bar the testing lab has all those numbers in hand.

Here's a guy who restarted an electric saw after it clogged with fibers. The electronic control overload/stall kickout/reset of the saw now becomes a factor besides the physics/dynamics.

Wonder how that is going to play out with the new husky top handle
