Cricket

Just in case anybody is having trouble following the criket, here are the basics.

You have two sides, one out in the field and one in.
Each man that's in the side that's in the field goes out and when he's out comes in and the next man goes in until he's out.
When a man goes out to go in, the men who are out try to get him out and when he is out he goes in and the next man in goes out and goes in.
When they are all out, the side that's out comes in and the side that's been in goes out and tries to get those coming in out.
Sometimes, there are men still in and not out.
There are men called umpires who stay out all the time and they decide when the men who are in are out.
Depending on the weather and the light the umpires can also send everybody in, no matter if they're in or out.
When both sides have been in and all the men are out (including those who are not out), then the game is finished.

As far as the England team are concerned, whenever we're 'in' its not long before we're all 'out' again. And when we're 'out', the side thats 'in' knock us all about!!!

Especially when we play in Oz against Oz, it seems.

I'm glad I'm not in Brisbane - the poor reporter couldn't be heard from (ever so slightly) drunk Ozzies making their jubilation particularly apparant to us at home!

Ha! Like we ever thought we'd get any sympathy in that department!

I'm sure you'd like to point out how well you're doing at the moment Ekka ?

This link says it all, and what a flogging you guys got!

Australia has its foot on England's throat after a 277-run hammering in the Ashes opener and skipper Ricky Ponting wants it kept firmly there for the next game in Adelaide.

Australia, hellbent on winning back the urn it relinquished last year after 16 years' ownership, needed just 90 minutes on the final morning to snare the five remaining wickets to mop up a comprehensive victory in the first of the five-Test series.

Be a long time before the poms see them ashes again.

Hey, Brisbane batted more like Adelaide, notice the cracks in the pitch ... drought stuff here mate but hey, was the same pitch for both sides. Personally I would have forced a follow on but then again, they just wanted a few of us to knock up some more stats for our batting averages. lol

2nd test Day 2 Adelaide, it's about half way threw the day, Poms batting ...

4/468 ....

Pretty good batting but odds are it's looking like heading for a draw. If Aussies cant bowl them out by the end of the day (unlikely) then the Poms surely would have to declare and try to bowl the Aussies out quickly. But if the Aussies stay in batting for 2 days as well then it'll be a draw for sure.

Rain could screw things up but that's unlikely with temps in the low 30's forecast for the next week.

Adelaide is tradionally a fast high scoring pitch, good to see a better match.

And the POMS lose the 2nd test after a huge lead they get done like a dinner in the last day.

9 wickets fell for around 60 runs and Australia batted to a victory.

The best ending I've watched for yonks.

And what a day ... day 3 of the third test was.

Temperatures soared in Perth, temperature was 38 celsius (100.4) at noon; 39.5 (103.1) at lunch, and so did the Aussie run rate.

Aussies batted up a comfortable 557 run lead and with half an hours play left declared putting the poms into bat.

Within 2 mins of play the first wicket fell of Andrew Strauss fell, 1/0 the score ... a controversial LBW decision but we had our share of those as well.

Highlight of the day was Aussie batsman Gilchrist smashing Panesar for 24 runs off one over, including 3x6's and 1x4. He batted to 100 runs in just 57 balls and became the second fastest century scorer in test match history and the fastest in Australian History. Good on ya Gilly.

Headline's read Gilly Blasts Poms

With 2 days of play left and a target of 557 runs to get the poms have a huge task. Weather forecast is 33C with possible thundery shower later today.

That's it all over.

Ashes return to Australia ... 3 out of 5 test matches won.

Poms all out for 350 on last day.
