crane tips

Was it just too large a pick, or did the ground give way as well? In other words... did the outriggers dig in as a result of the crane tipping, or vice versa?

That job was scary from the get-go. No PPE on the climber, not enough reach/capacity on the crane, etc, etc.

Just pure luck no one got hurt on that one. To see all those workers under that equipment and loads with no PPE and no traffic barriers. The boss on that job should be spanked in public.

Jerry, did you know you have too many private messages? I can't send you one, you need to delete messages (if you want to ever recieve any more). Later. sent you an e-mail last week too.

Notice that the video footage never showed a limb cut. It's likely because each limb had a big swing. Notice that the limbs they showed, were all facing butt up and tips down, this means they flipped.

Knowing this, maybe the climber cut that trunk pick too fast and didn't have the crane directly above and put it into a big wobble. And maybe just too heavy of course. From the sling placement on the ground, looks like it didn't flip over or anything like that.

I didn't want to say any comment on youtube, because the last time I did that, the tree service yanked the video that day.

There was a good example of how not to take crane picks, about 3 weeks ago. The climber kept shock loading the crane. The tree service was the one that actually posted it, so they thought they did a great job. The very day I posted a comment about all the things that were wrong, they pulled the video.
