Cougar Saddle Rings RECALLED

I just got a new cougar. Looks like the problems are solved to me. Marcked rings and the bridge is solid. I am pretty confident with it. It is a comfy saddle, not as much as my motion was, but for the price it's great.

Checked my Weaver Cougar (which I love) and found out that indeed I have unmarked rings. It's a little confusing-the manufacture date stamped on my saddle was 12-09, even though I purchased in 2-09. I called Weaver, who said to ignore the date, and to contact where I purchased it from.

So I called Sherrill, and thanks to Annie, who is taking ownership of this problem for me, my new rings should be coming soon. She thought I had to contact Weaver, but after I told her I'd already tried that, she's dealing with it for me. Thanks to Sherrill and Annie...

Guys,

If I understand correctly Weaver was not sourcing their Cougar rings from Kong but right here in the states (imported).

As I have discussed before (as well as Doug Heim), this rather distinctive looking non-anodized ring seems not to have been produced by Kong but merely sourced by them.

DMM and Buckingham rings are, I believe the best made (machined out of solid stock) but all others, including those PRODUCED by Kong have experienced no known failures. Just as I'm not aware of any leading brand aluminum carabiners snapping in two from normal ...to tough use.

Moral of the story; stick with brands you trust, seek clearly marked life safety products and inspect your gear regularly.

countryboypa31 posted a video a week ago about the Liger conversion or mod. I saw that Rich H also sports this on his cougar saddle when he was in Pittsburgh at TCIA. Now I could post his video but the knot he ties isn't the one shown for the treemotion so idk if he wants to fix this I will send him a message. Then again it might be a knot that works that I don't know of. But it just doesn't look right to me.

Ironically, I learned of this recall while inquiring about an unmarked ring that I recieved on a Komet Dragonfly Bridge. Funny how this world works: I have a Cougar saddle parked in a locker at work I believe has unmarked rings. It found a home here over a year ago because of the hemoraging on the bridge.
I have been "assured" that the unmarked ring on the dragonfly II came from "france" and is safe for "life support" because it doesn't have the "distinctive ridge".
What do you guys think? Should I demand a new ring or Shrug it off as many have already done.
Why is any!!! unmarked ring acceptable to sell in as life supporting device after all that has happened
