Cougar Saddle Rings RECALLED

[ QUOTE ]
By adding the paws you create the Liger.. or cougarvation.

The 'cougarvation' - funny
I assume the rings will be cut off and replaced with shackles?

How about the Cougar 3.1!
Cougar saddle = $217
2 5/8" Stainless Shackles = $36
1 Webbing bridge = $17
With these alterations, the Cougar now costs $270

might as well get a Glide, TA 3.1, or Butterfly... $360

Cool I got a couple PMs with very detailed instructions(thanks Derrick and Tyler) and Jerrys (employee) gonna do it,cause its his saddle.

The only thing is putting the paws it voids any type of warranty or backing by the manufacture.

Hahahahaha. At this point modifying the saddle to your own standards will actually make it safer then when weaver put it into production!

If no one steps up and walks you guys through how to put the paws on I'll ask human crane to grace us with his almighty presence accompanied with photos, which might take forever to actually down load the photos so you might want to jump on my Facebook page and I'll document it there probably during lunch today.

Pinnacle, Thanks for the update on the rings. Out here the Pony Express is Reeeally slooow. Its nice to have site we can check in on and see potential dangers.
Checked mine, both unmarked, REALLY glad about seeing this post. I have BAD luck in things like this.
Familytree, I agree with you, if the stitchings not pulling out or anything like that, anything you can do would only improve its workability and funtion.
I agree also, put a drawing or pic's on how the paws are installed. A lot of us would appreciate it.

wow, that's a lot of people with unmarked rings coming out.

didn't you all get the notice from Sherrill a long while back?

Wow, suprized there aren't dead people, from climbing on Kong shower rings with this many still out there.

I'm leery of all rings now. I'm replacing my Cougar rings with the small rigging paws and the aluminum rings on my bridge I'm trading out for a hitch climber pulley.

Ya, im really suprised that there wern't more injuries. I knew of the ring recall over a year ago and had to retire other equipment. It just didn't dawn on me that the rings in the Cougar would come from the same manufacture. Just something I never thought about or tied togather.
I'm just thankful for this site and all that are involved with the "GOOD, BAD & UGLY" of this industry.

I have unmarked rings also. I sent in the recall form but am more interested in converting it to the Liger. Please post info asap. Thanks.

Last week I was grubbing through my bucket of extra biners. There was an unmarked aluminum ring in there. Even though it didn't have the identifying 'mold flashing' I got out the bolt cutters and snipped it into two pieces. From there the pieces went into recycling.

Like Jimmmy Buffett said about mobile homes on the Florida Keys:

They look better as beer cans.
