I have been a fly on the wall up til now. As a young arborist, far from seasoned there is so much to learn. I have been trying to take in every bit of knowledge I could for the past year. I still check Arborist site from time to time, however find myself on the buzz more these days. I have been getting more and more into SRT, in fact I started climbing a crude form of SRT before I learned any climbing hitch. I purchased a pair of CMI ascenders while attending school. I have a cougar saddle I have been using to SRT. My question is mainly are there any simple ways to SRT that is unique to that saddle. Second, the rope bridge needs to replaced, are there any recommendations, not to fond of rope bridges. I have a Sequoia, not the SRT model really wish it was really sits at home a ton. I also have a Buckingham Versatile. I learned on that saddle five years ago. Does anyone SRT with the versatile? If so what system?

ever try the F8 system? its frickin amazing!! friction hitch figure 8 or ring, a teather and a pantin. cant get any more simple.
this is what i use when im feeling the SRT.
a lot of the guys here will give you some amazing info on using the F8 system. its fun, try it.

thood, go back and read all you can on SRT in previous posts. Use the treebuzz search too if you haven't yet. Rope wrench is the way to SRT in my opinion. It is similar too the F8 system but it is much easier to ascend in a somewhat normal climbing manner. I'm sure some more computer savy person will post a link to the previous posts that could help you out the best. You can use pretty much any arbo saddle with either the F8 or the RW system. You don't need the SRT version of the Sequoia...that is basically made so a chest ascender attaches more easiy. I don't even use a chest ascender anymore. Lot of neet tricks. The next few months will be pretty awesome for you, I think.

I know a lot of people are down on rope bridges but I'd say replace it with warpspeed is my vote. The stuff is rated to an ungodly amount that's way overkill and it's been tried and tested on the glide for years. As far as srt if you're going to get into the f8 system remember low and slow and also what area are you in. There might be someone out here that could come climb with you and let your borrow some gear to try it out before you go buying some things.

Thanks for all the help, I will try the F8 system. Tr33Climb3er I went to Clemson 2003-2007, Forestry degree. highclimber 30, I have been looking through any SRT post, I wanted to get a feel for anything current especially with the cougar.
