Severely pruning these- recent winds dropped large pieces on the deck so this was alternative to removing these two. There were large cytospora cancers down to 10" wood

That's it for now- I going to bed I got work in the morning. Some of the more intense cuts didn't get on film... you know how it goes. I have a bunch of video from today that I'll work on posting. Night-nite out there in tree buzz land

Very cool, It is rare that you see a boom truck with two winches. It would be fun to experiment attaching both cables and be able to winch up and actually be able to actually be able to tip the picks slightly when needed. Just a thought, thanks for sharing.

Have you ever noticed there are no small cottonwoods?

A couple of other things worth mentioning: Most of These trees were looming over a stall with about 300k worth of horse fleshliving under them. These folks have been clients for over 15 years. As they have become older( they are becoming more paranoid about stuff falling from these trees. Every time the wind blows big chunks fall. It was a shame to lose the shade but I guess some of the under story trees will take the opportunity to flourish. the cotton was flying like crazy- it is wild to think about that each one of these little cotton seeds could end up being this huge tree. Each 12' loge weighed about 5000 pounds.
I must mention as well my rigger for this job was Jenny Hannon From Yorkshire England. Barely topping the scale at about 7 stone Jenny had just finished an 8 month trip in Central America and had never done tree work of any kind before. The night before the job I was kind of stressing because I did not have any help lined up. I knew Jenny was available because she was staying w/me but I did not want to expose her to the potential hazards that come with the job. She came through with flying colors even learning all of the crane signals right off. I have done many crane jobs. This particular one involved laying pieces on the ground almost a football filed away from where they were being plucked. So anyway just wanted to give credit where it was due and pass it on if anyone in Yorkshire needs a hand Jenny is the gal.

That two part block was kind of a pain in the [bad word] and just flopped around alot. We discussed taking it off but never got around to it. I think in the future we will go ahead and get it out of the way. It seemed like it could beat up the frictionn saver in it's flopping around.
