I believe that trickle down economics does indeed work, as evidenced by the city and state that I live in. We are oil field based so with the high price of oil and gas my state is booming. People around here are spending money like crazy (although not wisely). I don't like the high price of fuel but I do have plenty of work. There are also more jobs than workers. If you don't have a job ,than you don't want to work.
Welfare, although a great idea does not work like it should. Most people on welfare are using OUR money to buy beer, smokes and gamble. And, most people on welfare stay on welfare, their kids get on welfare....... So my hardearned tax dollars go to support people who do not want to support themselves. And, I am assuming that you know that the single mom with 5 kids has 5 kids because she can get more money from the government.
I think the bailout bucks was a horrible idea. I do not think that if my business fails the government will bail me out. I also think that the real estate problems are a result of greed. Greed of the rich bank executives. They were making loans to unqualified people at high rates and high fees. However there was also greed by the unqualified people who got the loans. Getting into houses they could not afford and not being financially responsible.
Not everyone who makes over $250,000 are wealthy boardmembers or work on Wallstreet. And not everyone can take advantage of loopholes. They pay plenty of taxes. And why should they support us? How much do you pay in taxes? I know an individual who made $260,000 in 2006 with a wife and 2 kids. He paid over $60,000 in federal income taxes. Is that fair? Both he and his wife have worked hard all their lives to get where they are. And you think they should pay more? Why? Let other people work hard for what they want. Don't give it to them.
Speaking of the $250,000 limit, is it??? I have also heard a $200,000 limit as well as a $150,000 limit. I personally don't trust the guy.
I sure hope that 1 day I will be making more that $250,000. I know I sure work hard enough for it. Or perhaps I should stop working and let the government give it to me. I also believe in paying my fair share of taxes, but I do want to keep my pants.
In a perfect world, welfare is a good thing. But, unfortunately, this is far from a perfect world.
