Compact Bulldog Bone

I have a Rock Exotica swivel and it works very well with some of the other multicenders but not particularly well with the Bone. But I will be going back to it until DMM fixes the problem. Then I will evaluate. The DMM swivel is not perfect, but fits a lot better than the Rock Exotica. I have to look at the rock exotica while climbing to make sure I do not encounter any cross loading.

Bot, all things considered, I just wish I had bought the nano from Gordon when I visited him and bought the bone. Visiting Gordon was a wealth of information as well as what I feel was a beginning of a good friendship.

it might be a design flaw or whatever happened at dmm but swivels are inherently a weak spot in a system.
hard to inspect, loaded in the same direction they (usualy) go together (or come apart).

i find it frightening how many people trust their life to lower quality company branded swivels..

fuck swivels!

Working climbers have a wide range of what is an acceptable risk and what is not and should stick with what they are comfortable with.

Not all swivels are hard to inspect, nor is it a given their use will weaken a system.

I wouldn't boycott DMM over this. They had one failure and are addressing it immediately. That is excellent service from a company. Shows they actually care about their customers, and their company name.

Only one incident out of countless products. They have an excellent track record. I'm wondering if this particular piece of gear, unknowingly, received some damage causing it to fail at a later date?
Your right! I recind my previous comment. They do make really great kit!

Thanks for calling me out!

Where are you tending your Bone from fellow Treebuzzers
I normally wrap the end of my lanyard around over my left shoulder to advance the BDB to ascend. But if I am using my PMI chest roller, the Bone just rides on top of it. Love my two Bones! I often use them both, one on each end of a 90 ft piece of line with an eye in each end, for leap frogging around in certain trees.
