Compact Bulldog Bone

I have checked the video, it seems to work. But I don't understand any of this inter web foolishness.

Initially when beginning to use mechanicals, I was most worried about that very issue Richard. I have been using the RR and now the BDB for a few weeks now and have yet to have a negative experience. Not that it couldn't happen, but I don't baby my gear. I beat the snot out of everything that comes across the plate. The worst I've had with either device is getting a wad of leaves sucked into and mashed up by the moving parts. That caused no slippage though.

I did get a nasty bite from the BDB when I took an unexpected swing and my hand got caught between the device and a limb. Cordage wouldn't do that, but I guess you gotta pay to play.

Thanks for the video mac! This device looks great and would enjoy the opportunity to try one. The thing i like the most about the BDB is the materials that are used. A video of it in action would be pretty cool too.

I have used it on velocity and it creeps with velocity, however the length from the upper pivot to the swivel link affects the "grippiness" and this can be changed by changing the upper arm.
It works for me , with my weight, on KMIII which is a denser rope than the Velocity.

The Bone can handle a fair amount of weight (10 lb.) hanging on the release handle without adversely affecting how it grips. I think that a dynamic weight falling on the release handle becomes ineffectual as the Bone is driven down because it is not a sustained squeeze when the bone moves under it.

Here is the newest configuration of the BDB, notice the lock clips on both friction links. And cotter pins instead of
Clips holding all links in place. This is pretty bombproof. I am still loving it. Gonna try and post little video in the next couple days. Gordon is getting this thing totally dialed in. Great piece of gear

Thanks Mac for the video, it gives a good sense of the size and function of the bone. The Bone does prefer 12mm line although some 11mm lines will work for me (such as KMIII and Rocket Line). Paul H. from the UK, who just received his, reports that it creeps on his 11mm southern access line, but works well on 11mm Response LSK. Fly line always seemed larger than 11mm to me, but I do not personally own that line (fly).

I used to have Vortex, but traded it for the Tachyon pictured in my vids. I liked the Vortex as it felt nice on the hands. But I imagine, based on my experience with Vortex on an OAR, that it would work fine in the Bulldog Bone also.
