Coffe Grounds

I was at a little training seminiar a couple days ago and ran into this guy and gall that run a small landscaping deal. Well in chatting with them we got talking about lillacs, he ws telling me that he puts coffe grounds around them ( after they have been used for the morning wake up). Has eanyone else heard of this done with lillacs or any other trees or shrubs? /forum/images/graemlins/confused.gif

We use all of our coffee grinds around our plants.

They appear to be very safe and we have had great results.

I've read of gardeners who use hundreds of pounds of coffee grinds per year on their gardens and landscapes with great results.

I've heard of it too, but what's in the coffee grounds that is good for the plants? Or is it a monkey see monkey do thing?

Well ok I know now that just dumping the grounds in the compost area is ok, now on the plants they go. Heck maybe it is the left over caffene that gives them the boost.

Altering pH.

Fundamental in stimulating an aggressive response to depleting mineral availability. One example is iron (Fe) often never has to be ammended but simply made available by severing molecular bonding. Know how when you get your hands dirty with grease and simple water washing won't work...but a little squeeze of soap does the trick? Detergents don't "wash oil", they simple liquify water molecules small enough to break the resistance of the oil.

Coffee is acidic. As is vinegar.

My two cent's worth. I'm an alternative practitioner.

That is cool send up some more info my way on some home remedies for the mom and pops they hate to use chems on their plants and trees.

If you pee on hydrangeas it makes the flowers blue

That is something I do not want my to imagine in my head is mom& pops running around peeing on their plants

One cup of urine to a gallon of water will boost ANY plant in the vegatative state. It's just nitrogen, after all.

Thanks MB ijust need to get them to pee in a gallon jug now and my problems are solved .

Yeah but just suggesting it well ? Nah I was just wondering about other remedies for just house hold stuff to use. I have a job I picked up for a nature lover and have to do some trimming for their solar units on their house, and they to where wondering about house hold helpers.

Ok the piss deal is cool but I can not just get myself to say hey all just pee in a jug add some water and dump wherever, I mean come on how many folks are going to look at you and say ok bye bye to you. My folks allready know I am wacko but they too will ask if I have been drinking? ( yeah got a jug)

Neem oil works on mites on indoor plants. you can usually go to your local hydroponics shop for the latest organic remedies

Course I posted about coffe grounds and we all know to well to much java and well. So put it together and we all have a good fert. out there stinking to highh heven but good fert.
1 part pee 2 parts water coffee grounds splash all over and walla. Eat your hearts out Ortho us arbs are better. No need for the dump and runn just do it in a jug and add water.

Urine also can act as an animal repellant.

Let it ripen in a gallon jug for a few days along with a couple of eggs. Run through a filter. Put in sprayer with 50% water. Spray on tree trunks and hostas where you want to keep deer away.

Don't give people a straight answer when asked what you do to keep deer away.
