Cocoon Pulley Use Question

Location
Michigan
Has anyone figured out a way to use the Cocoon Pulley that is retrievable other than as a simple false crotch? I'm trying to get the right hardware to use it in a choker style like the Rope Guide but w/o the price of the Rope Guide :)

thanks,

mk

I guess you might be able to take a regular ring/ring FS, cut off the little ring, install the Cocoon, then add a retrieval strap near the big ring...

I'm building my rope guide this week, too!

I spliced a 6 or 7 fooot f/s out of xtc one eye i put a screw link and the other a petzl caribiner-then I attach the cocoon to and eye to eye then tie it via to the f/s.Make sure you use the right size caribiner or it will get stuck-note also will get stuck in the large ring if it turns sideways. Before I run it thru the pulley i thread it thru the screw link(speedy link I think)When I get down I put the little retievable ball on it and pull it out -having already attached my throw line in the tree.Another way you could use it is attach it to your access line once you get to the top on one side then either make a butterfly Knot or attach a caribiner (my preference)to the other side and run your pulley thru it then thread your climbing line thru the pulley -you have now turn your access line into a giant retre-rope guide. You can now retrieve it from the ground just by pulling it apart and pulling it down.also the pulley is only rates at 22 kn,kind of a bummer until its changed I hope.Whats up with that Norm any progress with ansi?

I also tried a retrievable little woopie sling I spliced out of the larger Tech cord but I havent tested it to much yet.

Oh come on guys! I've seen the prices you command as tree workers/climbers over there!!!!

As a piece of kit that you are swinging from every day, surely you can justify its expense and buy the proper job ? It's a bit like copying a CD..yeah you get cheap music but the quality is compromised, its not licensed (or ANSI'd!!) and the Artist or inventor doesn't get the pennys he deserves for all the effort they have put in that you so clearly appreciate!!!! Shell out the beans dudes, don't be a tight wad!!!! And it's tax deductable!!
