climbing line

I'm going to buy a new climbing line soon. I climb DdRt but I'm getting a rope wrench so I'm going to start learning SRT as well. Any suggestions or personal favorite climbing line.
 
Looks like you are on Poison Ivy, I was too... I now rock Lava, super smooth but make sure you use a friction saver (secret weapon). I bought 200' of Vortex Cool a couple weeks ago, can't wait to try it out on the wrench.

i like velocity, tachyon, arbormaster, and am getting some new vortex soonish. i wasn't a fan of the rocket line, it got smoked going through a set of rings during the work climb at the TNTCC 2 years ago. With velocity that wouldn't have happened.
 
Velocity and arbormaster. 1/2 " line feels better in my hands, and a broken in arbormaster really holds my vt superbly.
 
I've been climbing on the new vortex for about a month now and I'm very happy with it. Been switching between Ddrt and SRT and found it nice to have a bit thicker rope to grab when on the wrench.
 
I am finding that P.I. has very low stretch, even for long ascents... anything less would be close to static. Now I will be climbing on it for DRT and SRT.

what do you mean smoked?
 
Tachyon. Use it everyday, and it seems to hold up good natural or mechanically rigged. Better to use with a cambium saver, cause its 11.5 mm, but works well with either application. For SRT it has a pretty low stretch, and its absorbs shock well should you slip, or take a short rapid fall.
 
Adolan- So you don't find the vortex to big or bulky for the rope wrench. I'm looking to get something a little bigger for my hands.
 
Have you every smoked a rope in a crotch dry rigging? Seen how it severely glazes the rope? That is what happened when I took a fifty foot swinging jump in the work limb tree at 200lbs. Acks pi smoked too. Don't know if anyone else's did or not.
 
Rocket Line! i love the way it looks and feels. it really stays round and doesn't flatten out. feels almost like a 1/2 steel core lanyard. works well in both DRT and SRT. i use SRT for accessing tall trees then make the switch over to DRT for working and rocket works well in both configurations.
make sure you milk it. i used an old prussik and ran it down the entire length and it milked like 3 feet off my 150'. good luck!
 
Tachyon has been my favorite so far. I recently bought a velocity and I like it alright but I will be going back to tachyon for my next line.
 
Hey Leafguy I've found it a nice change from PI with the wrench, I had to adjust it slightly to allow for a half inch line. Nice and smooth !
