Climbing hitches geneology

I learned the Lark's head as a wee lad, it was called I don't know what, and I use it with carefully formed half hitches to slide up to cinch (vibration/loose proof) small to medium branches where the "lark" rides up the line nice and loose and only sets when you crank it down. i.e. after you've located it just right.

Always something to learn.:)

Maybe leave it named the Catalan and credit them both?

These are the ones that are “finished”, as finished as I can get them. I’ll get to the others and a couple of replacements for ones that were just preliminary sketches that you’ve used. A couple show other options

In the helical and the Penberthy the standing end that pulls the hitch makes the loop, the working end makes the bight.
The diagram is inverted.

I saw where you made a distinction of which section of cord forms the nip of the Bowline and thought you might be right, as I had seen the Penberthy before the Helical in On Rope, and might have just made them the same. But looking at The Nylon Highway vol. 17, Bruce Smith has an article about them. Appears they are tied the same with the nip being made from the section coming from the top of the wraps, and ends up being the eye.

Here is some info on the discoveries being independent of each other.

A few more, Catalyst, Enzyme, Helical, Innovation, Knut H, Pindonga, and Pindonga+. My previous picture of the last two were incorrect, the eye functions were reversed. The section coming from the top doesn’t do much but move to the opposite side, mostly passive.

Brocky, the Pindonga and Pindonga+ were correct in the photo that you sent before. Here the hitches are associated to the Knut ending not the Catalán.

Here's another video from Rubén Showing the Pindonga:
