Choosing a climbing system

Trying to decide between a Ascentree Double Handled Ascender with 1 or 2 Petzyl Foot Ascenders.

Or a Mar Bar System.

Any advice out there please?

Thanks!

Thanks for the suggestions guys!

Has any one tried the Mar Bar System?

It seems to be bulky and heavy but is it easier?

They both seem to be around the same investment price.

Appreciate the help...

Mar Bar is 400 bucks, no way a tree frog system is going to run you that much. Go with a frog walker IMO. Then again, to speak out of both sides of my mouth, try both and use what works best for you!

I've seen the mar bar system, not a fan at all. It really beats up on your knees

A tree frog system is much cheaper, easier on the body and many of the proponents can be used for other climbing methods.

The drawbacks of the tree frog system is that it's for srt ascent only, the mar bar is used primarily as a doubled rope ascending system

of course we use saddles with these rope climbing systems. i have used both systems. i love mar bars they are easy to set up for the green horn and you can rest on them unlike a footlocking prussic. although i'm setting up a micro frog system minus the kong crappy gear. if you aren't familiar with a lot of knots and have a lot of gear already, then go with the marbars. they might be slower, but they are simple. very simple. simple is fast and way safer.

newclimber101 there are a lot of buzzers in the Massachusetts area. you should do a rec climb or ten with some of them. i bet you would find a climbing system to your liking

It isn't hard to fabricate a t-bar foot system using a handled ascender, some threaded rod and cordage.

That said... a frog walker setup would probably be a more versatile tree climbing system.
