choking carabiner

Those are some great tricks that I will have to store in my head

Question: On both of those instead of the throwline for retrieval can you have another line and then footlock up it? and then also use that line to retrieve it?

... surely been done before

Just take care the gate don't get loaded!!!

taking it a step furthur. The pinto rig. The pulley part of this is completely superflous. I am ultimately envisioning this with a much lower profile. but the pulley makes a nice throw weight as well.

OK, never done what you're taking about Kevin and i'm sure this will get shot down but lemme throw it out here anyway.

Use a steel biner with a keylock gate. Assuming you're taking about climbing up and there will be no dynamic loading, even with the gate down it should be strong enough to do the job. I mean as long as you don't climb above it anyway.

I think Norm's idea is best, I'm just tossing out what came immediately to mind when i read the OP.

I guess most of you midwest guys aren't working today, eh?

That pulley idea looks good Kevin. Do you think it will be OK to side load the pulley like that? I would be comfortable with it, but it isn't the way it was designed to be used or loaded I'm sure.
