chipper help

It looks pretty tired for $4K. I would be leery about the bucket under the hydraulic motor. With the curbside feed position and the direct engine shaft/disc arrangement I would date this to the early 80'S. 30 Y.O. Machine??? Nah, I would walk away...fast.

I hear ya, I just need it to last me through this season... Unfortunately anything I step into at that price range is gonna be tired. I will under the hydraulic motor again when I see it again, thanks for that tip.

How much of an inconvenience is the curbside feed? never used one before?

I never worked with the curbside either. Morbark and Vermeer had them as options and pushed sales to municipalitiies citing it as a safety factor. You don't see any manufacturers making any today though do ya? I would offer $2K or $2500 and see if the guy bites. At $2K it might be a deal.
