Chainsaw Pants

Location
NJ
I am looking to buy a pair for working in the tree that are little wait. I would wear them plain for summer use and wear long johns or something during winter use. Can anyone recommend a pair that is comfotable, easy to move in, and not to heavy. I don't want to pass out from a heat stroke becauee I worm them.

I am in need of the same help.

I have looked into both the Husky summer pants and the SIP 5.1 in terms of pricing. The 5.1's are over 2x the price. Why is that and is the protection that much better.

I have also noticed that there is a line of jacket and shirt protection offered by Husky. Any input would help. I have yet looked into the pfanner brand.

Thanks for your help.

Yes the SIPS cost more but they also perform better. Lighter, breathable, no material bunching( My husky pants did that) and lycra for stretch and comfort.

I noticed that SIPS come in black (5.1) and Red. How does each compare and how is the black in the summer heat. Gets in the 100's around here for about 2 months in the summer.

Thanks

I'm not sure about the red ones. The 5.1's are just a bit warmer than a pair of jeans. But since they are all synthetic they do not absorb sweat. I think the red ones are a bit heavier?

red a little more comfortable - black have a "rougher" feel - especially the knee patch. red look like big jammys b u t are more comfy :)

the husqqvarna forest/summer are about as cool in the summer - baggier but don't stretch like the SIP ones

Just found out Husky no longer makes their summer weight pants, only the winter weights.

Don't know why.

Stihl USA makes summer weight pants still. Talked with Mark a few weeks ago about the Stihl pants that he got in Germany, but we can't get them here.

I also looked at the Stihl Germany site, and even though you can't read it (unless you know German), they have at least a dozen or more different styles of chainsaw pants.

Don't bother Chris,

The new Stihl pants are from the same factory as the Pfanner ones. But...

The happy chappy at Stihl ordered a lot without any thought going in to it. So you see; even a factory that produces a high quality product as the Pfanner pants, can spit out crap. A friends Stihl pants lasted only a fourtnight.
Stihl makes great 'hardwear' but let the 'softwear' pro's produce the pants.

Does anyone know the website for Pfanner Austria? I am trying to find a great pair of hot-weather chainsaw protective pants. I see they have a site for their Canadian wholesaler- https://pfannershop.com/index.php , but they only have the EXTREME version listed (which is going to be unnecessarily hot for LA). I've found their non-extreme pants listed on treeworker's website.

Where do USA customers buy these pants?

As I get further and further into my search, I'm thinking the Pfanners are the pants that I really want, but will not ever get.

Thanks for the links!
