Sit tight, give me a few minutesI am still waiting for the executive summary...
Maybe you’re right on this one. But i still like to give these sweethearts a hard timeThe problem with making informative videos is that they actually need to be informative...This one missed the mark Kenny, and I would be willing to bet that 99.99999999% of the folks here learned absolutely nothing from its content. Instead of getting defensive maybe this could be a learning moment for you as to the level of content pro arbs expect in a vid...
But to each its own, ill keep pumping content while they sit behind a keyboard criticizing lol.
You know I’m just an ahole. The more shit they give me the more exicted i getNot sure what you expect from the peanut gallery around here? You posted a video on a pro forum and the pros are giving you their honest opinions, which for the most part has been pretty spot on.
You have built yourself a big following on youtube and you should be proud of that Kenny ...One sure fire way to fuck that all up is to start getting snarky and defensive with your potential viewer pool....As a non PPE wearing asshole who can't pay folks to watch his vids, your just gonna have to trust me on this one....

Oh there you are, i was wondering when you were gonna show up sweetpeaTroll

The Tractor Supply brand oil works great, we used it exclusively for years and never had any trouble with lack of lubrication on long bars, except on a 36” bar cutting dead hardwood. Nothing seems to be enough for that, besides cranking up the oiled and pulling the saw out of the cut halfway through to give it a chance to pick up some more oil.Just watched the video. If we were talking bar oil, Tractor Supply Store has a bar oil that looks thicker than any of those oils and I would suspect hangs on the bar rails better. It is usually priced at $8 a gallon and has in the past come down to $6 a gallon - at which point I buy 20 or 30 gallons ahead.
Best current bar oil I am aware of is Chevron in a five gallon bucket. It has "tackifiers" that make the oil hang on the bar rails like a thick honey and when it does sling off - razzing the saw in open air - it slings off in a long line like a string of cobweb or something. This hangs on longer bars well. (Surprised to not see that thickness and tackiness in the Stihl oil.)
Not sure of current price on the Chevron but I think it is about $15 a gallon.
Rico what are you using for bar oil for your longer bars? Anything else you know of with "tackifier"? Baileys used to sell workable oil with that on the affordable side.
I got an old dish soap bottle I fill with bar oil that I use to add extra oil when cutting stumps as low as possible. That one task seems to make a lot of heat on the bar if they’re big stumps. For that I squirt on extra oil manually.
I've been using 100% Canola oil straight from the grocery shelf into the saw every day for the last 4-5 years. I've seen no negative impacts in hot or cold (down to 5 F I think is the coldest so far).Anyone use veg oil or the likes for cutting in sensitive ecological habitats such as streams?
