A chain can be used to attach a block to a stem as a lowering point.

Lower rigging point. The cable went to a wench...uhhh, winch.

So...what's the point? Is it unusual or not generally accepted to use chain for rigging?

MB is right..it is heavy. I had to use spurs to set everything...can't imagine heavy rigging without them.

End of topic...don't want to start a storm.

Gerry loves to lean out his saws and take the chain brake off. I gotta say his saws can cut the beejeasus out of wood.
I see in the picture he is using what looks like a 34 or 36 w/ a short bar. Prob. takes about three seconds to cut through that wood.

With the rigging set up hes got there I bet it takes less time to set up than a dead eye sling or whoopi and the steel snatch block does'nt weigh all that much in comparison to say the biggest ISC spring lock block
