Cell Phone Carry

Congrats! I didn't burn up a hitch cord either I and got to the hospital in about 15 min of hitting the ground. Woo hoo!
And I'll bet cell phones played a big part in both of our response times. treehumper, unfortunately sir, your hitch cord wasnt experiencing much friction...I would guess.

Oceans, she can have a cell phone if she wants, but when i asked her, all i could make out was, "TreeMotion".

Yes she has a phenomenal vocabulary for a 1 day-old?

Any recommendations out there for best way to carry a smartphone aloft?

I tried an arm band and found it to be too difficult to access when I need it. Shirt pocket? Oops - a drop. Amazingly my Galaxy S3 survived.
really need a phone? Prima donna Question . Tell your wife to have the kid after work !

if you have your cell phone on your saddle for any other reason besides work , you'll be broke for life . Word!
Life! a lot of kids were born with out phones and people at work , a lot of trees were taking down with out pictures . Only thing in your pocket , should be your wallet and money .

When I climbed early on, I was alone.

I tried a three to one with a pantin.

Rookie error, I became inverted with pantin above my torso. Man I was scared. Wished I had a phone. Could see my whole life passing before me. Luckily I was only a foot of the ground, but the more I struggled, the more stretched out and tangled I became. Don't know how long you can survive upside down. Finally was able to use one hand on the ground to remove my weight. If I was a foot higher, I'd be dead now. S#_t happens.

I would just expect someone on the ground watching/assisting to be able to call 911 faster than someone up a tree, digging phone out of who knows where, while bleeding heavily, heart pounding, broken bone, or possibly unconscious?

Having an experienced assistant is more important than having a phone in a tree. Having someone trained in aerial rescue and having a phone on the ground may prove to be faster / more efficient than having a climber worry about a phone also

It's not a worry just a tool. I was laying on the ground and it took no time to get my phone out and call my boss to come and get me. Broken bones and all, Sure the groundsman could have a phone at the ready too but that doesn't preclude the climber having one. Think about all the "tools" we now carry into the tree that we didn't have going back 10 yrs or more. For some its just excess weight and others, indispensable. In the case of a phone, the difference is disciplining one's self to only pick it up when absolutely necessary and when the opportunity is right.

Feeling good this morning huh, treehumper?

Funny, your're writing is so good, I believe I can actually tell when you're sedated now; just by reading your posts. My guess is you're not very sedated this morning.

Hope you're healing well.

I'm trying to reduce the percocet but this other drug just isn't quite strong enough. However getting a slight rash on the butt has it's benefits when its a cute nurse that is applying the cream...
