Carritool advice...From my tree motion user's.

Alright cool man..i appreciate your imput. Ill check them out aswell. Yeah i got for my saw and ill throw my top handle it there. But on the tree motion thats about it i want this saddle to last. Atleast till i make my money back from all my gear. I got brand new everything this year. 2 200 tacyon ash pink. It was a good ass deal and shit gets dirty and it aint pink for long. Salmon color dont bother me fuck it. Im manly enough. Lol 200 xstatic. 120 velocity cool. New rope bag harness . Gecko aluminum 2.0s a hitchhiker 2. 3 dmm hitchhiker pulley. 1 for spare climber . Other 2 on lanyards. Which i have 5. Different lengths. Got those when wesspur was doing there free swen eyes. Just paid for footage of the ropes. Nice ass deal saved like 200 buck. From climbing line and all the lanyards i had made up. Then bunch of caribeaners bunch of hitch cord for hitchhiker 2 and hitch climber setup. Ive only had 2 private jobs so far. So i haven't made much back yet. Lol i have the flint locker on the way. Has anyone tried that. Srt anchor. Its a soft 8.? I think it will be perfect.

I'm trying out the Camp Kilo on the right side, like it so far, it's not quite as large as the large Caritool, but you can still fit a rear handle or the handle bar of a chainsaw in there easily. I couldn't mount it as high as the caritool unfortunately, because it stick up too far and digs into my side when leaning to the right. So it's pretty low, and kinda far back for my taste. The large caritool position is perfect. I usually keep another small one behind the large one the left, it's on my sequoia, I need more caritools, so I don't have to keep swapping...
The large caritool has one huge advantage for me, you can fit drill, impact driver or angle grinder handles in there, making for easier transport than having them dangling on a lanyard.
Big disadantage is the nose for everything to get hung up in, especially slings.
I tried hanging my 462 by the handlebar in my kilo today. It was pretty cool, I might use that method on my next crane job.

I run two large caritiols on my tree motion. One behind each d ring, and a small singing rock beside the one on my right side. I hang a 46 off of the big caritiool all of the time- I used to use the small ones and yeah they are fine for a top handle but that's it. I've been running the large size for the last 5 years and had 0 issues.

All of the new stuff looks great but you don't need to spend a lot of money to get a functional piece of equipment lol. Personal preference really- I love shiny stuff too

Ok thanks for your advice. I appreciate it. And sure i spent more money on my gear. Got top end items. But thats just the person i am. I grew up with shit. Until i could buy my own things. So now i get what i want. And i wanted the best stuff i could get. Alot of this is new to me if i didnt buy my own gear. Id be using my boss's 15 year old shit. And thats my life on the line. Ive been put it uncomfortable situations. Like using old ass climbing lines. Old lanyards spurs. The only thing i trusted with his gear is his standard weaver harness.

I recently started using transporters for the first time. Previously I had one Vault for my saw on one side and two small caritools for gear on the other side, which worked really well and I was pretty happy with it. Then I bought a two-pack (ain't dead) of transporters on a whim when they were on sale. At first I hung one transporter on my saw side and moved the Vault over to replace one of the gear caritools.

Only at this point did I realize that the opening of the Vault is much smaller than all the others. It's fine if you're only hanging a saw, but if you're trying to rack a bunch of rigging gear it's inadequate. Since I now had an extra transporter and caritool,I sold the Vault to a coworker for 20 bucks.

Now I have one transporter and one caritool on each side, and it's great. The transporter is SO much easier to stowe my saw one-handed, and having one on both sides is nice for awkward positions with a big saw. Caritools are still king for just holding extra gear. Excellent bang-for-buck.

Ok nice i appreciate it. Ive been hung up on deciding between the vault and transporter. Im sold now. N yeah ive see n.v that deal with the transporter get 2 for like 110 or something. Good deal almost got it before. But ok thanks

I just use some old D shaped omega pacific screw gates for gear storage on the TreeMotion. My chainsaw lanyard has a big aluminum screw gate on the end, so even with a saw clipped in it, there’s room to clip it closer if I don’t wanna just let it hang. I’m sure the Vault and Transporter are nicer, but I can still manage to stow and retrieve my saw one handed if I want. One of my biggest fears in the tree is dropping my chainsaw on someone below me, I just can’t trust the Caritool that much.

Ok thanks johnny..ive thought of that also. Welll ive seen it done in videos on youtube. Wasnt sure how well it would work. But must work pretty well. Thanks ill look into it more maybe try with a carabiner i already have. I dont have 1 quite that big but at will atleast give me an idea of how it works.

It's not on a treemo, but some food for thought on caritools and similar low break strength options..in an Instagram video @the.schultz.effect shows how he uses a caritool as a deliberate breakaway option. I've since started doing the same.. I run a shembiner xl on the right and a camp kilo on the left, with a singing rock porter on the back.
Hopefully the link works.

Yeah it worked..thanks man i appreciate it. Hes got a pretty nice setup. I have a zillion coming couldnt help it. With Bartletts 20% off petzl. I like his lanyard setup his i guess its some sort of recoil

Camp Kilos get my vote too. Excellent value for the money. My Caritools are now collecting dust.
I've been using the kilo for my saw and honestly, it's good but I had a scary incident the other day with it. The wire gate can get torqued and can easily come out of alignment with the bottom part. I was maneuvering around some branches and then looked back to find my saw hanging by the lanyard in a crotch.

It's light but flimsy and the gate never really locks itself into place on the bottom half when it closes like other caritools. Also, the bottom part where your saw hangs on is pretty narrow and has sharp corners which can't be the best thing for storing heavy gear on. Was trying to get by for less money but from climbers I've watched and talked to the transporter is easily the best porter on the market (for your chainsaw). I use the petzl ones but only for storing accessories, never for my saw.

I’ve had a gate slip 2-3 times since owning them, but it hasn’t presented a problem so far. Much better than the Caritool gates disappearing completely. I’d like to try a transporter as well.

Ok thanks for your advice. And your imput on the kilo. I liked the look of it and the price. Glad i didnt get it yet. Ive been leaning towards the transporter aswell. Thats what ill get when i get one. Just using the xl shembiner for now. And petzl for accessories.

Oh shit really.. man that sucks. Was yours old. They dont seem like there made that well tho. Ive also been curious about that 1 from Buckingham it aluminum. Looks basic. You know what i mean. Id check 1 out.
