For sure!

Thanks guys, but I am just a twinkle of what TCOT is all about. I have learned soooo much while working here, I hope I can give back 1% of what TCOT has given me. This truly is the greatest tree care company to work for. It's all about the TEAM.

I have heard nothing but good things about TCOT and nothing but bad things about Davey, A place I would NEVER want to work. Why isnt it the other way around? why does the crappy company get to buy the good one?

Im with you treebing. i know many climber that came from davey to work with small reputable companies, most are not worth time I took to evaluate them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is that the companies fault or the individual...I came from Davey when I started. What I couldnt learn there I saught out on my own. A company only limits you if you let them.

I agree Allmark. The first guys I worked for told me not to go for the Certified Arborist as it was 'too advanced' for me after 1 year in treework, I did it anyway. Dont let anyone try to keep you down or stop you developing.

I feel sorry for guys who end up in bad companies and just settle for the status quo.

I started with Davey too!

Before they left town

Now, after several other companies and places, I'm doing my own thing

I can say that Davey is in the upper range of companies to work for. Not the best, but far from the worst.

Norm, you should be the goodwill ambassador after the merger (if there is one). Before that, you should take some time off and come to Louisville for some R and R. We have a woodstove in the shop now, so we can have beer and cornhole (the bag game) nights.

maybe that came off wrong. Ive been climbing 20 years and seen moor acidents made by line workers transfering to residential climbing. yes I'm blaming the company. It seems the only thing that realy concerns them is the tree count. Now im not coming into this blind, My dad retired from line clearance and brother did it for many years. they will both say it was the worst sitation to be in, working along side very unqualified climbers. I myself tried it for shot time and left for that very reason. I', not saying that a good climber cant come from a company like that It's just rare. the key word to what i said earlier was [most]

Good point. I'm only a newbie in the production world but I can see the "limiting/controlling" effect of a large company with many workers ready to replace the worn out or unconventional ;)

I'm often finding myself a mentor to some of the younger guys - which, to be honest, keeps me happier and ready for the next day...

peace,

mk

You've been climbing for 20 years......coulda fooled me (lostleftfronttire)

what do you mean by this? I started climbing when I was 15 for my dads back yard company, I,m now 35.

I broke my back in november of 05 and stared getting cortazone shots five months ago, till then I could barley walk. I had only climbed maybe 6 to 8 times last summer when you met me.
after tecking all day in at MI TCC, I whent through the work climb just to see if I still had it, I would have came in second. that was my 5th climb after getting the shots.

sorry if I offended any one.....

i believe its the individuals fault to not take the time to learn what is being taught if been w/ davey utilities for 9 yrs now and thay have fronted the bill on my education they have paid for every exem (3certs in all) and even sponser me at fltcc and the really great insurance which w/ a family of 4 is a major relief from being poor just for med ins davey is not a bad company they even have the davey institute of tree sciences you get what you give in life if a person does'nt do their jod or does'nt put forth effort to learn i think any company would send them down the road well enough of my babbling

Hey Norm, any idea how this deal would affect Aerial Equipment? Will it be part of the deal? The last time I spoke with Davey brass about in house supply they were somewhat less than enthusiastic to say the least.

Dave, chill. I was impressed with your climbing skills. No offense intended. Forgive me if I did.

From what I was told, nothing will change.
There is a deal on the table, that's it. No paper's have even been drawn up, let alone signed.
