Carbon fiber geckos

I'm looking for some reviews of the carbon fiber geckos, particularly the fit, cmfort and durability. I've always been told that carbon fiber doesn't hold up well in the cold. Please tell me the climate you're using them in as well

I don't see the little bit of cold we deal with for a few months, as being any issue what so ever. Carbon fiber is in everything to airplanes to the space shuttle, can you just imagine the temperature changes that material has to go through? I say the ONLY issue would be, the price!!

There's different ways to embed or laminate carbon fiber and different grades of material. I wouldn't worry too much about that comparison. Different duty cycle too.

No Bivy has some.

I have had mine for three years.....no problems with the carbon. Pads are a bit worn out now...but still ok. I really like mine, I would buy again.

Same goes here as well. And also being in Jersey I haven't noticed anything different in wear due to the climate over my last pair of spurs. Only recommendation is to try putting them on and off at or near the base of the tree. The bottoms don't take too kindly to wear walking about on stone and all.

I have had mine since spring, so I have nothing on cold below 40 degrees F. Mine hurt my lower shins for the first couple trees, I think just because my legs weren't used to having that big of a pad. since then I would never use or buy another type of spikes.

I had some extra thougts about the Carbon ones until I had a look upon a pair a friend of mine used for a year. He has worn the bottom down because off walking over stones.

I deciced to go with the aluminium ones. They weigh a little tiny bit more but it will stand longer on stones etc.

Think about it and decide for yourself what you prefer.

But best off all not to buy them and only prune trees ;-)
