Can't find the DWI, DUI, and drug conviction

Re: Can\'t find the DWI, DUI, and drug conviction

Did you get and read the standard driving manual? Same book for Class C, the jail-time and sentencing is a large part of the book and part of the CDL test cards will ask questions about them - randomly.

Are you saying you've taken the test portion with you - away from the testing station?

Re: Can\'t find the DWI, DUI, and drug conviction

The punishment information is in the regular Class C Driver's license manual. It figures they would tell you to know this without giving you what you need to read.

I had a 70mph collision due to an admittedly blind driver who was in his 80's, and after everything was partially fixed he refused to renew his license. Up until then he sent-in his renewal every five years, skipping the vision test that you and I HAVE to take. And you HAVE to know how many hours one serves in Co. jail if a minor is riding with you while there's an open damp but empty beer can in the back of the pick-up.

If I were king for a day, all the driver's license testing clerks would be sent to Iraq.

Word of advice - do NOT argue with them on testing day...go out of your way and bite your tongue to be extra-polite and pliable. They have an internal secret rule to flunk you five times so your week is ruined.

Re: Can\'t find the DWI, DUI, and drug conviction

I pulled a bone-head move and didn't transfer my DL from LA to TX before it expired. In MN it expires on my B'day so I goofed...duh!

When I took the written test in TX I failed the first time because they asked an inordinate number of questions about alcohol/drug related issues. To me, all that is needed to know is: Drink/drugs=big trouble=don't do it. So...I failed..then read the manual...and passed. Missed one point on the driving test. I stopped with my wheels on the half-stripe before a crosswalk stripe...oops :)

The manual should be on-line. At least that's what I was told by the officer at the testing facility when they ran out of printed copies.

Re: Can\'t find the DWI, DUI, and drug conviction

I temporarily moved to S.C. in '01 where they made me surrender my Tx DL to get one of theirs. Came back in '02 and did the same thing, only had to start from scratch again w/ written and road tests, etc. Flunking 'cause of punishment questions, retake and flunk, retake and flunk, the clerks got a kick of of this - 30 miles away and three days of flunking later, I demanded the manual (of which there was only the one station copy to read there and return the next day to retake test), memorized the jail terms - passed and guess what? They simply issued me back the SAME license that never expired or was ever invalidated.

Like I said - send 'em to Iraq.

Re: Can\'t find the DWI, DUI, and drug conviction

Thanks family!! I'm reading the manual cover to cover. Haven't found the drug and alcohol stuff yet but I'm sure I will. I AM GOING to pass this test just as I have all the other tests the first time....the first time on this one...maybe. While everyone is out barbecuing and fishing I'm studying.

Good luck and with the CDL your horizons will expand, not to mention you'll be legal when they stop you with your new rig.

Re: Can\'t find the DWI, DUI, and drug conviction

Well I passed three and failed the two easiest tests (by 1 question each). I retake them tomorrow. I have my permit. The 2 I failed are the combination and the pre-trip. I found all the conviction and sentences just as Oakwilt said. In the regular driver's manual. They snuck a few questions in I don't remember being in the manual. Sneaky suckers!! Oh that's Epicormics. Thanks guys

Now you'll be well prepared for our safer roadways while having leanrt proper friendly driving. War on Drugs, as manifested in those driving tests, have made America safer and from that we're winning the War Of Terror.

Re: Can\'t find the DWI, DUI, and drug conviction

I passed the written class B CDL! I started to get class A but was told all I needed was class B and I would have to test in a class A combination tractor and trailer. I take the driving test Fri.(tomorrow). Then I fly out to Florida to get my GRAPPLE TRUCK!!! I don't know of any other tree service that has one with a 24 yd dump... here in Dallas. Insurance is a bi....// That's Tampa Florida to Dallas TX 50 mph with no A/C. WHAT FUN.
