Cannon Superbar

Treestuff carries the Cannon Superbars, I'm wondering if these are superior to the stock Stihl bars? Also what are you guys using as a replacement for the stock bars if it isn't the Cannons?

We run cannon bars on a few of our saws and find them to be far superior then the stock stihl bars.

Okay let me ask the newbie question....What makes one bar any better than another. I have always used Oregon bars and chains.

Monkeylove your question is much like mine, I have only run stock Stihl bars and was wondering the pros or cons of switching?

I think laminated bars are inferior. The majority are laminated. I could be wrong but pretty sure I learned that somewhere.

Okay I would say they have put some thought into it. Very impressive.

I wanted to get one for my 50cc saw. Cannon said I had to go through my local shop but nobody here wants to sign up with them to sell just one bar. I hope treestuff starts offering the smaller bars. I'll buy some.

Deflection. Lay the Stihl bar, length of your choice, over on its side and check how much it bows when held by powerhead end. Then check same on Cannon. Last 6 foot Stihl bar a buddy was running wouldn't hold a chain to start face cuts. I held the sagging end up with a stick - wearing all PPE of course. (Joke)
