Hey Tom and Mark, I know that this is old news and I'm not trying to cause trouble, but I was just wondering if it would be possible to bring back Butch?

I know that others have brought this up before without success, but would it be possible to give MB a second chance?

[/ QUOTE ]

I don't know the exact reason that brought a climax to his presence here.

But would it be more accurate for you to have asked..

... would it be possible to give MB a 3rd chance?

... would it be possible to give MB a 5th chance?

... would it be possible to give MB a 20th chance?

Just how many chances are we really talking here? I actually don't know. Nor plan to vote on it. I buzz on over to MB's site if I want to interact.

Wouldn't phase me if MB were back here, if it was right by the Dunlap-meister.

Well said.

I vote and Merritt and Dyl get to skip paying for Jan. for loyalty.:-)

I found the guy extremely immature, borderline mildly retarded.

A new guy gets along just fine there in a greenhorn, buttkiss capacity..."Hey mister, how do ya tie that bolen thing?" "Really, awesome", just HOW big is your bar....sweeeet" (lol'ing).

If you know more than many of the "regs" (meatheads) there and give opinion...you are in for their little routine. Probably got beat up on the playground as kids when no protection around.

I have been lurking etc on this site for three years and rarely post, but on this tequila infused evening I have to speak my peace.. . MASTERBLASTER should be allowed to rock the top rope like any other wrestler here. I am a member of his forum, and I can say that the relax factor is tops!

The real goal and mission here at this site is to get a number of wise vantage points from a variety of career positions and Butch certainly meets the requirements for the old school ripper taught -line hitchin' arborist. He's got wisdom to spread. So let's get it on!

As long as wisdom gets a front seat, which I think is where the real crux of matter lies. If a user fails to abide by rules, where is the wisdom?

Even if there were no forum rules, we can still ask where the wisdom is, if written calamity is chronic.

MBs biggest problem was the way he dissed new members and trainees talking down to them like they were dirt on his swollen foot.

so.......No

.

I would enjoy ragging on MB again, but he was terribly predictable and boring in his one line posts. I thought a lot of the spark had gone put of treebuzz when he was banned, turns out it was just the hot air that got let out.

You naysayers take this stuff too seriously.

You sound like you're still looking to beat up the kid that picked on you in school.

I thought we were all adults here? Get over it.

This line of work is perfect for those suffering mental illness. Depression, anxiety, compulsive disorders. There's no better cure than outdoor physical work and sunshine. So we end up with more wackjobs than average.

I used to be a leader type in school with a good mind and body. A bad and violent career choice and a history of depression in the family left me with post tramatic stress disorder. I couldn't make it a day in a cubicle or an office now. In relation to this thread you can fill in the blanks before I label anyone without even meeting them.

What I remember of MB is he had almost every second comment on every subject. He needed his own forum and he's got it. Everyone should be happy. And season's greetings to the fellow arborists over at The Tree House. What's the saying? Divided we fail?

That's a really thoughtful post/hypothesis. Speaking for myself...I am as looney as an old looney bird. Most tree guys I know are. Can make for some big fun and grins and make for some record lows at times. Extremes are in the forecast for tomorrow. Quit the intoxicants about 21 years ago and that improved things drastically.

Just wondering....was your poor career choice tree work? Personally I consider it one of the salvations of my life.

No, no I should of got into tree work as soon as I was old enough to work. Actually I did but the bad economy made any job look good. Jail gaurd was the job. I went without sleep for over ten years as I just couldn't do night shift. Then there was the bs and violence. No shortage of blood at that jail, we had a nasty reputation.

Being a jail guard at a nasty prison is probably similar to being a online bulletin board owner/moderator with too many bad apples in the bunch. Get too many unhappy or uncompatible people in one place and you are going to have problems. I'm all about freedom of speech but comments just to comment without content aren't worth much when it comes to learning.

Do no harm.

That should be something we all think in everything we do whether we are making a cut in a tree, or making a comment on here. Do the people that constantly raise other people's hackles add to the learning that is going on here and the sense of community or do they detract from it?

I welcome all here no matter what knowledge they take or bring as long as they are making the board feel welcoming and are building the community and not trying to fracture it or tear other people down.

ive stated my opinion on this, i was perplexed by the vehemence of the reaction towards this thread and i wanted to convey my positive experience on the Treehouse. after seeing some of the responses here i really don't think the idea of bringing back mb will lead to anything but bickering and mud throwing. i like having two forums to go to, each offering their own advantages and learning opportunities. its too bad that some people cant get along, but that is not unique to the internet (politics, anyone?)that said i wanted to respond to Treevet's post before i wash my hands of this issue and get back to obsessing over tree gear and techniques.

"I vote and Merritt and Dyl get to skip paying for Jan. for loyalty.:-)"

loyalty is earned. were you paid for your loyalty to treebuzz? i would think that your loyalty is born of a sense of camaraderie and a shared passion with the members and moderators of this site. if the members of the treehouse started bashing the buzz like some of the posts here, you can be sure i would be posting in it's defense just as passionately.

"I found the guy extremely immature, borderline mildly retarded."

im not here to argue mb's character, you are entitled to express your opinion. if that was your impression of the guy, so be it.

"A new guy gets along just fine there in a greenhorn, buttkiss capacity..."Hey mister, how do ya tie that bolen thing?" "Really, awesome", just HOW big is your bar....sweeeet" (lol'ing)."

i haven't found that to be the case at all. there are members of the th with 30, 40, 50+ years of professional experience. these forums, here and there, are all about sharing knowledge and learning from each other. no one has to grovel, and no one is treated second class for being a beginner. now if you come in full of blustering, knowitall, hot air, and start telling everyone how awesome you are, you will get little respect. that is true here, as well as there (Daniel, anyone?).

"If you know more than many of the "regs" (meatheads) there and give opinion...you are in for their little routine. Probably got beat up on the playground as kids when no protection around."

see above about knowitall attitudes. how much time have you spent there, and how can any learning take place when your attitude is "i know more than you do"? how do you react when someone comes at you with that kind of mindset? not favorably i would guess, i know i don't. as far as their grade school experiences, is that really relevant? you wish to portray some people im sure you never really tried to get to know as repressed victims lashing out at any threat to their fragile egos? that seems a bit childish to me (no pun intended), and certainly not something i would hope to see from one whose argument is against character bashing and cabalistic intrigue.

so, as far as mb is concerned, don't invite him back, for the good of both sites. lets keep things civil. just because a few people really don't like each other, it doesn't have to take away from the enjoyment and learning opportunities of the rest of us. i'm sorry this post is so long, i will go back to reading the gear forums now. cheers. jaime

Not sure why'd he want to come back. You have to weed through the "I'm better than this guy on you tube" thread posted every two days on this forum anyways. I'm wondering how some of you guys go to bed at night being so perfect, must be tough filling those shoes.

I stick around here on the sidelines though, there are plenty of people who are respectful, and many I would throw back a beer with, (or Gatorade, I don't drink much).

Pick your poison, or be civil on both sites. Why do all these threads have to turn to smack talkin?
