Cost to participate at the Treehouse? Bullshit.
If you choose to contribute you can. The TH isn't ad supported, he pays for it out of pocket plus donations. Regulars donate every year. I don't see how that's paying to be his pal.
Who cares why he was banned, Tom had his reasons. Bit I'm in the yes unban him category if we were allowed to vote. It's not a democracy though. He may not WANT to come back.
I think this forum was better with all three of'em. Daniel and Ekka are two peas in a pod, Holly was unbelievably abrasive but he was ridiculously funny too. Butch is just Butch, he's opinionated... Imagine that in a group of alpha types. He clobbered some guys sometimes but they usually had it coming.
At the Treehouse he's very respectful, welcoming and tolerant unless he thinks you're trolling or going over the top.... At which point the regulars are kicking in and moderating.

I was a couple of years absent from the Buzz so I probably missed the showdown. Knowing Butch only from the Buzz he sometimes was (not for me) a pain in the a** and when someone found Butches 'right buttons' I can imagine why he was banned.
We had lots of fun and speaking for myself I welcome him back anytime.

Treevet, you are making the assumption that the regulars on the house are mindlessly following the whims of Butch. Which is entirely inaccurate and ignorant. The quality of the people on the House, whether it be in the arena of tree work or just plain being human, it extremely high. Some really great folks over there.
That is not to say that it isn't the case that there are great people here, because there are. I'm not interested in putting the two forums on the scales of tree justice.
Both have their strengths and weaknesses, but to make ignorant, insulting statements is to do exactly what yall claim to have banned the blaster for, IMHO.
Arrogance and ego tends to take a backseat over there, if only because one notices one is rubbing shoulders with some very experienced and competent tree workers, and some really cool cats.

ive lurked on this site for a few years now, not long enough to see any of this feuding start, but long enough. ive also frequented mb's site for quite a while. ive learned a lot from all of the many knowledgeable people on both sites. i have to say, i find the people over at the th to be welcoming, encouraging, honest, and selfless members of a very open and tolerant forum. as far as mb goes, whatever went down over here, it seems like it is personal between mb and the moderators here. with that kind of bad blood, nothing good will come of bringing him back. and for what its worth "sounds like suppression of free speech, bullying and ganging up. Just sayin." ive seen quite a bit of that go on here. just my 2 cents. Jaime

This means you haven't been invited to the hidden threads. If you please the round table, you will be invited.
There are a couple of hidden (invite only) threads that allow a few people to basically talk smack behind people's backs. I've personally seen slander, back stabbing comments, and name calling in the hidden threads.
Seeing the double standards in conduct is what lead me to not visit M.B.'s site anymore.
