Buying stuff overseas??

Alright, I'm going to try and order some things from over seas and I was wondering what the difference is from buying in the US. I live in Lexington, KY, and have never really ordered from over seas before. Right now, I want to order a TM from over seas, but to start off, dad said order something small to see how it works out. My questions

1. Import/export fees, do they apply to something like the Tree Motion saddle?
2. Is shipping out outrageous??
3. What's the best place to do a currency conversion online to see how much something would cost in US dollars at the current exchange rate.

I would say you might be better off trying to make your own TreeMotion saddle out of scraps of leather and covet-spit (to steal the phrase from KYsawyer).

Sure you found the price at $425, however, by the time you ship it in and pay customs, you may be at or more than the $600.

Also, one of the reasons it is priced that high is no other supply house has them to make it a competitivly priced item. I said this last yr when they came out and dam is it sure proving right. Sherrill can charge what ever they want and they will still sell them. Monopoly in action.

Thanks alot!!! I asked Sherrill and they said nope, only US companies. And I'll be calling the UK company to get a shipping estimate, etc. And from what I understand, customs doesn't really apply to the saddle. Am I wrong on this account???
