Buyers Club

How about if somebody started an Arborist Buyers Club ??

The club would be free to all that join, manufacturers and users. Buyers would sign a contract to agree to being a responsible user and waive their right to litigation if accidents occur due to their own actions. Manufacturers would list testing results and clear instructions for items use. Items would be priced just above wholesale so manufacturers would make more and buyers would get cheaper products.

This system would encourage innovation as potential devices would have an easy outlet and wouldn't have to be at the mercy of negative influences in our industry.

I think with the state of the internet and its huge usage why should everybody pay 40% more for a middleman. Embrace creativity by giving developers more of the profit whilst allowing lower prices for gear.

Make sense???

Ebay platform works well for me.
Is that a starting point? Just for example:
Put in an order for high quality life biner 3 action Ansi approved highest quality long lasting stainless steel biner like the Rock r Exotica.
PayPal does their part. Manufacture ships them out. Less expensive biner means you keep more of your money and manufacturer makes more as well. We build a strong union of pros who want good tools at a fair price. Just the basic tools no argument no choice you get what u get and be happy you saved a buck. Innovative tools like a better spur climber would have to work the same way.
I would like to see this work. Good idea @pctree bold move into a better future

Carl I wouldn't think it would cost much to run. Maybe a 1% surcharge on every purchase to cover running costs??

1% wouldn't cover the credit card fees.

How are returns handled? Return shipping?

Not being a nay sayer, but it'll cost something to run, I don't know what that something is.

I thought of a big problem tonight whilst on my MTB ride. I bet most manufacturers have contracts with vendors not to undersell them....

It would be cool though if it were just American made products

Manufacturers prefer to sell directly to end users in most cases. I very rarely purchase from a retailer for arb gear.
I save on average a few hundred a yr.
This year is closer to a thousand.
We/you and i will pay 30% more if purchasing through a retailer. Btdt
some manufacturers won't sell to us /end user. Simpley make due with something else.
We as group can make bulk purchase.
For example if we would order 10 reels of. 5" rigging line and share that out. Manufacturer would be stupid to turn that sale away.
Tender it out, contract to buy etc

I like the idea and would support it.

I called Atlantic Braids (quality Canadian rope manufacturer) out of frustration with getting their rope locally and asked them what it would take to become a distributor.

I can't because they have an exclusive distribution agreement for Ontario with someone.

I wonder how prevalent this type of arrangement is.

They have to get a better picture of their ropes, the red one has loose fibers showing. Not real confidence inspiring.
