I have cracked the fuel tank in a six year old 200 climbing saw. It is going to cost 250 to fix. The saw still runs strong. Fix or parts saw? Gentlemen (and ladies)?

I got the same promlem on a 020T. Tried epoxy on it ......worked for awhile.
The gas tank is not regular plastic so the epoxy does not bond to it very well(polypropylene?).
The Stihl dealers around here want 60% of new for used part.

I would say lack of armor on the back off the saw is the biggest weakness on the 020T/MS200.
Husky def had that figured out by letting the spark plug protrude from the main body on the back of the saw protecting the shell.(rather have a shattered plug than a cracked tank)

I would definitely fix it. If it still runs well, $250 is not that much to get it back into money making form. It will pay for that fix in a day. Unless you are trying to convince yourself you need a new MS 200T. Then I would say that saw is parts now and go get a new shiny saw.

Dean at Washington hotsaws used some type of plastic weld on those type tanks.I've used good old J-B weld on the metal ones .
