Building a MA

The question of why does the MA always geta twist when loaded was asked to me by a co-worker today. Thought I would put it on film seeing I am sure there are others that may have the same issue. Also he had the question of what MA does it make so there is a little of that in there also. Basic but basics are good.

I didnt see the answer to the question, other than he is setting the pullies up wrong? I set up my MA in the wrong config (as you put it) all the time. I dont have the twisting problems normally. When the problems do arise I feel it has to do with rope construction. I normally set up MA with the same line that is tied off to the tree, so 4:1 is what I get. If I use a double braid it seams to want to twist on me. My 16 strand doesnt bother at all. I have seen MA with a cheap line like arborplex, twist like mad. When I do set up the 5:1 on a seperate line I find that a host line (tied to the tree) that twists under heavy loads can cause lots of twists.
Im not trying to argue, or anything of the sort just add another theory or posslible factor to the discussion.

PS: You might want to replace the battery in your smoke detector

That is a good point having the main line twist as it is loaded. That very well could have been an issue for him as well. Braided line does have that nasty little trate. I am thinking in this case though that starting at step one of the basics (just setting up the pulleys to run line in it) was a good starter point, as I dont see many teach new guys this.
