Bucket truck or mobile lift

price? why the dino?
I got mine 175 plus another 10 for trailer. Can get a ramp/tow truck to move it with to be under cdl/not have a trailer, but we're going to run with just the trailer for now. This is my 10th year in business I've never owned a bucket or lift. Wanted to buy one machine new and keep for a long time. We really don't mess much with uninsulated wires, so that doesn't bother me much. It's way lighter than a 75 foot bucket, way more maneuverable, same side reach, way more height for reach. Can drive it around yards with less ground damage than tracked lift. It's almost 7 feet wide which is great for driving on uneven Terrain. Can't get through fences etc like a tracked lift but we have climbed so long I'm not concerned about having to climb something I can't get the lift to. I really wanted it for doing reduction prunes as that is a pretty decent chunk of the work we do. It's so much faster and the height/side reach and jib controls are a huge help on large tree reductions. It's got 500 pound capacity. Other day went up with two guys, one set line from basket, climbed out and did 1/3rd of tree that lift would have been a pain or not possible to get, while 2nd guy did the rest with lift. Pretty slick machine. Can drive/setup/work repeat all without ever leaving the basket. A bucket truck costs more new and is a fair bit more expensive to maintain while being heavier/less reach/more work to get into backyard.

Here is another actually, same boom, same price, 4x2 instead of 4x4, larger cab, doesn't specify CDL truck or not.

How are the reviews of scmitty's equipment dealership? Anyone dealt with this dealer?

I remember them getting flamed here a lot back in the day. There were other threads too. A company I worked for bought a forestry bucket from them, it was a heap. Looks like treevet got a nice rig from the though, and it was all a long time ago so maybe horrible is not entirely fair

Back on this thread, looking at spider lifts. I'm the only one with a CDL right now. We've got an under CDL chip truck and a one ton. @VenasNursery your setup is the ideal. Did you have to get that truck custom made?
Still trying to figure who's in my area for service and sales. I know there's a cmc dealer in Rogers, MN. Haven't found much else.
Don't think I'd trust used, so really only looking at new.
Trying to wrap my head around things (overthink early) so I make the best decision for our growth.
Thanks!

You know how the service network works. Dealer A and Dealer B both sell the units. A is the prime dealer that stocks parts and service techs. B’s clients are not going to be helped as efficiently as A. B is likely to be cheaper at initial purchase but you pay for that waiting for out of house service.
