Buck Blocks

My boss hooked me up with the new magnet friction saver. I haven't used it yet and I am wondering if anyone has any experience with it. If you have, any input on installation/retrieval, and general use would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Sorry no experience with the device, BUT at $435.00 I am sure you don't want to leave it in the tree!

One of our guys has been demoing one for a couple weeks. He says it sets and retrieves fairly easily from the ground. Says it great to climb on.

Also said he wouldn't pay $400 for one.

I am with you guys. First off, I was given them and didn't have to ask for them...which I wouldn't EVER do. They are way too expensive for me to afford...But my boss is the man! Second, I too can't wait for the rigging version because setting/retrieving them from the ground will beSWEET!!! As far as the climbing goes. I don't find a huge difference between the Buck Blocks and a rope guide. There is noticeable difference from a regular friction saver. The friction is much less like a rope guide, but the thing comes out of the tree like a regular friction saver. No need for the double snapper that breaks in the cold...I would use these in any temp. The only nice thing about the price is that you can replace the rope that connects them if it gets worn out. I hope that the rigging version is as aerodynamic as the climbing version because it really does come out of the tree nicely on slickline! Won't argue that the price is super steep...won't even argue that it's worth it now...But hopefully everyone will want one, the price will come down and everyone will get to experience the smoothness because it is nice.

I have a set of these. Does anyone have any tips or tricks to installing them from the ground. I've used them a few times and feel like I am missing something and that some way it could be easier. I have been using them double rope with a gri gri and a pulley up higher. I beleive a true 4 to 1. correct me if I am wrong. With an ascender it seems too easy. I took off the foot lanyard becouse I no longer needed it, compared with the regular rads way with a single rope. Anyway what do I know? I'm a rookie.

I cant believe that anyone would pay $435 dollars for one of these. The price is absolutely ridiculous when you consider that there is about $20 worth of supplies in the whole deal. Crazy!!!!!!

I want them but won't spend that kind of money. Now that is saying something.

I would love to give em a go though.

Whatever, you're totally a dumb person.

i could potentially see spending 400 for a rigging one if it was rated pretty beefy and it fit through crotches well. seems to good to be true though, seein is beleivin for me.
