Box elder bugs?

Can anyone tell me what these are and if they're harmful? This little ash is infested with them. They don't seem to be chewing or sucking anything.

That's what they look like to me. I believe they eat the seed pods.

And your ash may be an ash leafed maple also called box elder.

I don't think they are harmful just a little freaky when they land on your customers!

I agree they are Boxelder bugs, and in the third picture, thats definately a boxelder tree.

Thanks guys. I searched "boxelder bugs", and sure enough I got all the 411 on them. Good thing you corrected me on the species though...before the client does I hope. /forum/images/graemlins/blush.gif
