Boots

I tried a pair of Technica's a few years back. They were very lite and had a soft rubber sole for great traction. Great for pruning, not so good for wearing spurs. They also had a kevlar blend outer, which made them very tough. The sole started to separate at the heel after about 15 months. I liked em so much, I used shoe goo to keep them together as long as possible. I would rate them an 8.5 on a scale of 10. Would definitely buy another pair.

Dave;
I was at Sling Choker today looking at the Viking boots and when I asked for felt liners he said they are selling a type of nylon sock instead of the felt liner.
Are your guys using these sock things or the felts?

I got a pair of those on order! Nice boots and they're OHSA compliant.

Right now I'm wearing a pair of conventional leather boots with a vibram sole, I bought them well over a year ago but the sole came unglued. Friend of mine with his own tree business raved about PL Premium. Guess what it worked awesome, I've gotten more time out of them since the PL Premium than I did when they were new.

Kev:
Yeah we're using the nylon socks. They're the dark blue ones, they seem to work just as good as felts. The trick is to have a good felt insole and wool socks (with or without the nylon socks).

Thanks, that's what I was thinking.
He had a size smaller on order that would fit my foot and the sock but I called him back and cancelled, told him I would go with the full felt and sock but he didn't seem to think I would find a felt liner to fit that specific boot.

I was reading this old footwear post:

And I have a follow up question for Mangoes:

It's been a few months now and I was wondering how you liked those Goodhue Adrenalin 2 boots BUK was talking about and you had ordered.

I wouldn't mind a lighter boot for when I'm not doing big removals.

And if you guys do still like them, where's a good place to order them? that fire-fighter site?

thanks,

Merak,

You HAVE to stop in at Nokomis Shoe Shop. They're on 35th Ave and Nokomis Parkway, or close by.

Tell them that you're an arborist and get another 10% discount off the already low price. I've been buying boots from them for 40 years.

The Vasque's that I like aren't made anymore. I should call them to see if they have any left. The last time I was in I told the "son", you'll know what I mean...that my normal 11D didn't fit quite right. He went downstairs and came up with another pair. They fit perfectly. I asked him what size. He went to a 12 narrow. The folks know how to fudge things to make a sale.

Cabelas migh be a good place to look for work boots. They have a great selection and their own Cablelas brands are top quality. They have Goretex and their own Dryplus. I have stuff using both and can't functionally tell the difference. Customer service is great also. I buy a lot of stuff from them (jackets, pants, boots, camping equipment) and have yet to be dissatisfied. They're the first place I go when looking for outdoor items.

Not only do I like them but I got a killer deal through a friend ($140 boot for $85) so I got two pairs! Have a look.

They are great boots. A good comprimise for safety (they're steel toed) but for comfort as well. I really like how they fit with spurs on too.

Them look nice!

I always avoid buying boots with the speedlaces cuz I always seem to catch em bark and bend em out. Then when you bend em back in they break off!!
Anybody else continually breaking them things off?

Why don't you show us all your boots Jelte instead of just 1/5 of your collection climbing boots :-)

Anyone have mis-sized feet? My feet are almost 2 sizes diffrent, and it can be quite the bear to find a good boot that fits deciently. Not to mention that my feet are super narrow. It's all a side effect of having been born with club feet.

Maby we can set up a great boot-swap for us off-sized footers so we can swap a single off sized boot for a propper fitting boot. Any one up for a go?
