Do Asolo's tend to size large or small compared to your normal foot size?

They run a little tight compared to street shoes, but then again all of the high-end hiking shoes seem to be fit snug, especially the toe tapers down tight.

I disagree with that. Long story but I have feet issues and I look for boots that have room in the toe box. I used to wear Montrail boots. Now I prefer Asolo, when ever I find a boot I like I buy a few pairs and stick them in the closet.

I guess I should be more specific, my Asolo Fugitve GTX shoes taper to a narrow toe box and fit me tight compared to the same size street shoe. I have an average foot width.

As usual try on the shoe to get the right fit, stated size is general guideline.

Wise move to buy several of the ones you like. Everything else considered I can never justify putting out the cash to do it though.

I just bought a pair of Montrail Torre gtx hiking boots. These things are so sweet for footlocking it blows my mind.(granted I just switched from asolos, which I love but, are crap for footlocking) They are in the same price range as asolo not as cool looking though. I also wear chippewa logger boots for those long days on spikes!

a lot of people like the Asolos, I picked up a brand-new pair a a REI scratch and dent sale for $25. They are a little warm right now though, my feet sweat a lot in the summer no matter how you slice it

thin, crew-length woolies are where I find the best wicking performance. But it's still sweat-city. It's in teh 90's and humid next week so I will bring a second pair and change them at lunch.

Anyone tried Garmont Passo GTX's.
They're too lite for spikes, but have a very soft sole & a rubber layer starting up the sides. Seems like they'd be very good for foot-locking & limb-walking.

Thanks John,
FYI to ya'll. This link illustrates a nice feature by this internet vendor.
"Multi-View" will show the boots that they carry: Top, Bottom, Left, Right, Front, Back & Detail.
Not the same as trying them on, but good to check out potential options. They also seem to have an extremely good exchange policy.
I previously ordered a pair of Vasque Wasatch from them, & have worn them for a month. But as they got broken in the toe box started feeling too big.
I called their tech support dept to discuss a different boot.
My contact would probably have allowed me to return the Vasques !!!! I didn't think that was fair to them, since I had worn them so much. But nice !!!
I ordered a pr of Garmont Towers. Expect delivery today.

It's nice to pass along good vendor tech / cus serv. :-)

Yo Greg!
Zappos headquarters is twenty minutes from my crib. 1st year in business he made 3 million, 2nd year he made 8. I heard he just bought out another company this year.

Yo Back Roger !
Got the Towers yesterday (Next Day) .... .. also got an unexpected discount from their already lower $, cause I wasn't 100% w/ the Vasque !!!
Towers are $$$, but they are already comfy.
Nice doing business w/ people who seem to care & know what their talking about. I don't mine paying a little extra for quality & service.
I told the Tech Rep about TreeBuzz & he seemed very interested.
See you soon Roger.
