Boot lace ilets on Pfanner Zermatt GTX

Have any of you all some how removed the boot lace ilets, the low one by the ankle on Pfanner Zermatt GTX with out messing up boot?

ground them off with a dremel then glued over the exposed area no problems.

I figure once a product is out of warranty then it is fair game to be hacked to suit my preferences.

I may be wrong but it seems they put it there to tighten the toe box and the one above the ones your trying to cut off locks them in so they don't loosen while you finish tightening them. I think you may be lacing them wrong. Try this.

That's how i tie mine. I didn't use that eyelet at first but we did a massive job on a steep hillside and found it stopped my toes ramming into the toe cap going down hill.
