Boom or artificial branch for redirect

There was a thread on here awhile ago, guy in a European? Country built something like that to eliminate the negative blocking. @TimBr ?

On the old ISA forum we had a really long discussion about using extension ladder sections strapped to trunks as a TIP

A potentially sketchy setup. S&R and mountaineering have used ladders in creative ways

It requires a lotof homework

Line crews have specialized ladders for that, though you could probably do something similar with what they call "alley arms" (basically a composite pole with an adjustable brace) lag screw both in place to get about 8 feet of distance

Thanks for the mention, chiselbit, but I'm afraid the thread you are referring to is not ringing any bells for me. Sorry. Interesting idea, though.

Edit: Along the lines of thinking of this thread, is this jewel. Here is a link to a really great thread on the other forum, started by a guy who is a big pipe welder, with an interest in tree work. It is just loaded with great information about old school rigging setups. Well worth the read.

Well thanks, for that I'll check that thread. I'm liking the composite or aluminum tube . Seems like the strapping technique for lowering devices might work. I'll start with small no risky loads.

Looks like it would eliminate inertial loading from round falling several feet. Seems like a good idea....less stress on bull rope and main stem. I'm thinking one at 90 degrees to tree trunk, like a branch would be good for rigging and positioning too, a boom for a redirect etc. Thanks for that!
