Nevermined the trees! Sgt Cath O'Connor is only concerned with someone walking about with a machete.
"My concern is that this bladed item is being carried about in public," she said in an appeal for information.
What about the poor trees! their finished.
Been trying to find out about frilling, apparently it's an old school method of killing a tree, cut the bark through to the cambium, peel it back and fill it with something like ammonium sulpanate I suspect the weedkiller application is to stop epicormic growth, ah, who knows, it's a sh*t technique anyway.
"Police said the bark was stripped so "viciously" the trees may die"
Maybe there shoulkd be an arb division in all cop forces as they obviously don't have a clue about what stipping the bark off a tree will do!

why do blades have such a bad rap? They are the cornerstone of civilisation!

Next thing you know they will be concerned about that other cornerstone of civilization -- The wheel! I'd hate to see a couple thousand pounds of death attached to a wheel get in to the hands of some irresponsible hack. Could hurt somebody or a hedgerow or something.....
I may not be a pro but when I do trees on the side for my friends I do a good job.Lets review everything I did before I set foot in a tree.
1.I read about 16 different books on climbing techniques and tree care.
2.I rec climbed for a year and a half which I still do to this day.
3.Before I even cut a single tree I learned proper techniques and proper pruning and felling cuts on the ground.
4.After 3 years of ground handleing a saw I started clmbing for work.I did most of my cutting with a handsaw when I started out because I was scared the chainsaw would make me lose my balance out in limbs.
5.Looking forward to starting a treecare buisness where I will be the climber and will refuse to hack a tree topping etc.
If #1 and #3 are correct than you are more of a pro than most of the "pros". There are many companies that all the employees combined haven't read 16 arb books and proper pruning is hard to find.
