Bobcat exhaust

I'm an arborist not a weldor...but in handle a stick or wirefeed pretty well. I'd be welding...without knowing if there's something special.

A welding shop is likely cheaper than replacement

Exhaust pipe can be some nasty iffy welding. But ids weld it up good.

I had a crack on the cast iron fitting between the exhaust manifold and the muffler on my chipper. Zapped it up and has been good since. I’d vote for cleaning the crap out of it, and using a mig if just the thinner walled pipe. If pipe to cast, preheat the cast, weld, and take a rose bud to it slowly letting it cool.

Is brazing worth concidering in that application?

Or especially when it is cast iron to steel?
Sort of. It’s good (ish) for cast, but once you braze it’s a gigantic pain to go back and weld if it doesn’t work. Add engine vibration and I wouldn’t put any bets on it holding up for very long

Just to know what your time & consumables are worth, have you priced a replacement muffler?

You will never know until you know what it cost to replace it.
